Prayer

Prayer is the fuel of every believer’s life. In its simplest form, prayer is simply talking with – and listening to – God.

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you shall find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened." Matthew 7:7,8

"Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need."Hebrews 4:16

Prayer Cells

Pray Together

Praying is so much “easier” when praying with others. Jesus reminds us that something extra special happens when you get together in two’s and three’s. However, your schedule may not always be able to accommodate one big prayer meeting per week at a central location. Then you miss out on playing your unique roll in praying with others, and others miss out on what God gives you to pray through.

The result can be minor frustration, juggling of diaries and possible feeling of guilt for not being a part of something you know is important.

How a Prayer Cell Works

A PRAYER CELL is a small group of friends who meet in an agreed location on a day and time that suits them to pray. For some this could be early morning before work, midmorning, at home, lunch time at work or perhaps one evening in a home. It could be during the week or some time over the weekend. The venue and the time may vary from PRAYER CELL TO PRAYER CELL; that’s not important. What is important is that PRAYER CELLS are as inclusive as possible by meeting in as many different locations as possible.

How You Start a Prayer Cell

You start a prayer cell by inviting 3 or 4 friends to meet with you once a week to pray. With your friends you agree a location, a day, and a time. We suggest 3 to 4 friends so if one of them cannot make it one week, you still have 2 or 3 others to pray with. Then you let the office know you have launched a PRAYER CELL.

What You Pray For

The beauty of a PRAYER CELL is that each cell prays for the needs you are aware of. These include the needs of your family, relatives, friends and work. In addition, we will email or fax you a list of other prayer points biweekly.

The Advantages of Prayer Cells

PRAYER CELLS have wonderful advantages:

  • Everybody can be involved
  • You pray with friends you know
  • You pray in the language of your choice
  • You choose how long you pray
  • Kids can be involved
  • Youth can be involved
  • You focus on issues important to you
  • Loud people pray loudly
  • Quieter people pray softly
  • New cells grow as the church grows
  • Prayer happens all over the Basin throughout the week

Prayer Blast

Once a month on the last Sunday evening of each month, we will come together for a PRAYER BLAST. This is in addition to each week’s PRAYER CELL. A PRAYER BLAST is an opportunity for teaching on prayer, testimonies of answered prayer, and praying for church and community wide issues. It is a picture of how the walls of Jericho came down.

What Next?

Get excited. Chat to some friends. And START. Let the office know so we can keep in touch and pray for you.
